Launching a new website is exciting, it’s the moment your business goes from being an idea or a vision to something real, searchable, and live on the internet.

But if you’ve ever worked with a web designer or agency (like us), you’ve probably heard the phrase:“We’re just waiting on a few things from your side…”

At Digital Edge, we work hard to make the website build process as smooth as possible, but no matter how efficient the process, we often run into a few common delays that come down to missing client content.

So, if you're preparing to build or launch your website, here’s a quick guide to what businesses often forget to send, and how you can help us help you go live, faster and stress-free.

1. Your Logo In the Right Format

Yes, most people do send a logo.

But we often receive:

  • Tiny, blurry versions pulled from social media

  • JPGs with white backgrounds

  • Screenshots (!)

What we need:

  • A high-resolution PNG or SVG version

  • Transparent background if possible

  • Your brand colours and fonts, if available (style guide = gold)

Graphic design layout with "Logo Design" text, yellow speech bubble, green check mark, and geometric patterns on a white background.

2. Clear, Ready-to-Go Website Copy

You know your business best, but writing your own website content is often where progress stalls. We can write for you if needed, but many clients want to “write it themselves” and then… life gets in the way.

Tip:

  • Write just one paragraph per page to start

  • Focus on what your business does, who it’s for, and how to contact you

  • We can polish it later, but we need a starting point

3. Domain Access Details

If you’ve already bought a domain through a provider like 123 Reg, GoDaddy, or others, great!

But we’ll usually need, Login credentials or access to your domain's DNS settings to point it to your new site.

This is one of the most common delays near launch day.

Tip:

  • Keep your domain login details handy (or give us delegated access if possible).

  • Make sure your domain is unlocked and ready to update

4. Social Media Links

Often forgotten until the very end and then rushed or missed.

If you want social icons or share buttons on your site, we need:

  • The exact URLs to each profile (not just usernames)

  • Confirmation of which platforms you want displayed

Tip:

Send a list like this:

3D social media icons (Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn) on a blue background, arranged in a playful layout.

5. Quality Photos

Visuals can make or break a site.

But we frequently get:

  • Low-quality images

  • No team photos or service/product shots

  • Stock photos sent with unclear licensing

What helps us:

  • High-resolution images of your team, office, work, or products

  • Or, if you prefer stock; let us know your style and we’ll help source.

6. Access to Google Tools (If You Want SEO Setup)

If we’re setting up Google Search Console (GSC) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for you, we’ll need:

Access to the correct Google account or to be added as a user with permissions.

Without this, your SEO tracking setup is stalled before it begins.

Speed Things Up with This Checklist…

Here’s a quick checklist to send your web designer everything they need:

• High-res logo (PNG/SVG)

• Business info (what you do, your USP, location, contact)

• Website copy (even bullet points help)

• Domain login or DNS access

• Social media links

• Any photos you’d like used

• Google account email for GSC/GA4 setup

To-do list on a notepad with checked tasks: "Wake up," "Make coffee," "Drink coffee." Black pen on wooden table. Mood: playful.

Final Thoughts

Building your website should feel exciting, not stressful and when we have everything we need up front, we can move fast, design confidently, and launch your site without unnecessary back-and-forth.

If you're planning to get online soon (or upgrading your current site), this little bit of prep goes a long way.
